Dale Hegre is a truly excellent Aran weight Norwegian wool yarn that is, sadly, discontinued. For a 100% wool yarn, it’s wonderfully soft. Like most Norwegian wools, naturally, it’s very warm and durable. It felts beautifully (so be sure to hand wash, if you’re not interested in felting your Hegre projects.)

It comes in 50 gram / 1 3/4 oz balls and gives you 75m / 82 yds per ball. The ball band gauge is 16 sts per 4” / 10 cm, i.e., 4 sts/inch.

I knit my popular “North Star Hat” in Hegre and, years later, it still looks like new!
