Littlest Gardener's Dress Knitting Pattern PDF

$9.00

“Littlest Gardener’s Dress” is a baby’s Fair Isle pinafore dress in three sizes - 3 (6-to-9, 12) months - knit from the bottom up using four colors of fingering-weight yarn. Finished chest = 17 1/8 (18 7/8, 20 1/2)’ / 43.5 (47.9, 52.2) cm. The stranded skirt is knit circularly; the solid-colored bodice is knit flat. One optional round of simple crochet finishes the buttoned straps.

The knitting pattern is suitable for intermediate knitters familiar with stranded knitting and working from charts. The optional crochet requires familiarity with the terms “chain”, “single crochet stitch” and “slip stitch”.

The pattern sample uses 1 skein of each of four colors of Madelinetosh “Tosh Sock” superwash merino wool sock yarn. Yarn packs in the colors shown (Elizabeth Taylor, Paper, Undergrowth and Cardigan) are available here on this website. Or, you can use countless other fingering-weight yarns. While the sample was knit using four different colors, it could also be done in just two or three colors, or many more, if you prefer.

Suggested needles:

If you knit loosely, try US #1 / 2.50 mm for the TRIM needle and US #3 / 3.25 mm for the MAIN needle.

If you knit tightly, try US #2 / 3.0 mm for the TRIM needle and US #4 / 3.50 mm for the MAIN needle.

As always, swatch to see which needle sizes work best for you.

Sorry, the sweet, old-fashioned blouse is not included; but, it is available through Little Cotton Clothes Ltd.
