Ladies’ Latvian style mittens knitted in Fair Isle technique with updated, optional features. Suitable for intermediate knitters familiar with Fair Isle technique and working from charts.

Options: You can choose either traditional, pointed tops, or the more rounded, blunted tops. The pattern includes three different main chart motifs, plus numeral charts for working the date on the inside of the thumbs.

Finished circumference = 8” / 20.5 cm to fit an average adult lady’s hand.

Three colors are used. You’ll want one 50g ball of fingering weight yarn for each color.

GAUGE: 36 sts x 36 rows over 4” / 10cm in stranded stockinette stitch

NEEDLES: For looser knitters we suggest size 1 US / 2.25 mm; for tighter knitters we suggest size 2 US / 2.75 mm. Use whatever size you need to obtain the given gauge.

YARN: Three colors are used. You’ll want one 50g ball for each color. The original yarn used was Dale Baby Ull fingering weight superwash merino which is no longer available in the US, but there are countless substitutes available. Choose your favorite fingering / baby / sock weight yarn.
